Ford EcoBeast trademark has been registered, possibly for the upcoming 2016 Raptor
Thanks to a new report that has surfaced on Motrolix, American car giant Ford has registered “EcoBeast” moniker with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, probably for the 2016 Ford Raptor. The new trademark has been filed under “automobiles and automobile engines” category. It is highly likely that the 2016 Raptor would be powered by an EcoBoost engine that will be low on displacement and high on power and efficiency. It maybe noted that Ford has recently introduced a series of performance vehicles, such as the Fiesta ST and the Mustang, both of which come with high-performance EcoBoost.
Now, it seems like Ford’s upcoming Ford Raptor will ditch large-displacement V-engine in favour of a highly frugal EcoBoost engine. If various speculations are to be believed, the new Ford F150 Raptor, which could come with the Ford EcoBeast moniker, would be unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
Currently, there are no concrete details on the Ford EcoBeast. As of now, it is unknown if the EcoBeast moniker previews a motor, a one-off model or a concept car.
