The 2016 model Montero is considerably more expensive than the model that was sold in India till 2014. The Mitsubishi Montero costs Rs. 67.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in India. The major reason for the steep pricing is the fact that HM will be importing the SUV to India as a completely built unit or CBU. At this price point, the Montero will end up rivaling premium luxury SUVs such as the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Volvo XC90. Mitsubishi might consider assembling the Montero in India if there is sufficient demand. That should help bring the price down considerably.

2016 Mitsubishi Montero India – Design
Much of the exterior design of the new 2016 Montero remains the same as the model that was sold in India till 2014. Changes include a new front grille and a new front bumper. The grille gets a very healthy dose of chrome. There is a new fog lamp housing, which also carries LED daytime running lamps. The design of the Montero might be old, but it is still a very butch looking SUV. At the back, the Montero features a tail gate mounted spare wheel that also houses the rear fog lamp. Completing the macho SUV look are beefy wheel arches, fat tyres, and skid plates at the front and back.
The cabin of the new Montero comes draped in black leather upholstery. Most of the dashboard is finished in black with brushed aluminium inserts. It gets a touchscreen AVN flanked by vertical AC vents. The multifunction steering wheel gets wood inserts. The Montero features three rows of seats. The third row can be completely removed to free up luggage space.

2016 Mitsubishi Montero India Engine and Transmission
There is only engine option on offer – a 3.2 L DI-D Diesel engine. It churns out a maximum power of 192 PS @ 3800 rpm and a peak torque of 441 Nm @ 2000 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by an INVECS-II 5-Speed automatic transmission with Sports Mode. The Montero boasts strong off road credentials with a Super Select 4WD II System. At the front, the 2016 Mitsubishi Montero features a Double-wishbone Suspension setup, while the rear features a Multi-link suspension setup. The independent suspension, coil springs and monocoque body all work together to provide a greater degree of suspension travel. The result is impressive road-handling and greater stability even over the roughest off-road conditions.
