The Skoda Fabia is one of the best sellers from the stable of the Czech automobile manufacturer, and the new generation of this hatchback, which was unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show last year, could make inroads into our country in 2018! The revelation on the new Skoda Fabia India launch comes from the Twitter account of a renowned Indian automobile journo. The 2015 Skoda Fabia is based on VW’s MQB-A platform that is meant to underpin a slew of small cars from the VW group. Skoda Fabia has always had its roomy interiors as one of its strongest aspects and the same have been carried on to the next generation model as well. It is the same size as the previous model in terms of length but sits lower than it. The car borrows design cues from the VisionD concept and will feature better interiors with premium fit and finish. It will also result in an Estate variant but the same won’t touch down on Indian shores. While the latest news on new Skoda Fabia India launch awaits confirmation from Skoda India, you can find all the details on the new generation super-mini in this post here-
Launch
As we just said, the new Skoda Fabia India launch is rumored to be scheduled to take place in 2018. It maybe noted that Skoda India has already confirmed its plans to bring the new model Fabia to our country, and while we are happy that the internationally popular super-mini is India-bound, our belief is that bringing this car here only by 2018 could be a bit too little, too late.

Specification
Skoda claims that the new Fabia is as much as 17 percent more efficient than the older model, thanks partly to weight reduction and also because of a new range of engines. The new engine lineup consists of four petrol units and three diesel units. The diesel engines are 1.4-litre, 3-cylinder units which get an aluminium-alloy block and are offered in three power configurations ranging from 74 BHP to 104 BHP. The petrol engine lineup consists of 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder MPI units and 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder TSI units. All the engines come mated to a start-stop system and kinetic energy recuperation system and are available with manual and DSG gearbox options.
The new Fabia is longer than the previous gen car, with the length nudging the all important 4-metre mark. The car is also lower by 3cm. The larger exterior dimensions mean more space inside; boot capacity with the rear seats up go up to 330-litre from the previous 315 litres. Some markets, especially in Europe get special ‘Monte Carlo’ variants of the car which feature black alloy wheels, sport seats, a rear spoiler and other visual enhancements.
