2015 Mercedes C220 CDI is now assembled at company’s Pune facility
Mercedes-Benz India, the Indian subsidiary of the popular luxury car marque, today commenced the local assembly of the new 2015 C220 CDI Diesel sedan. It maybe noted that until now, the new generation C-Class, which was first launched in Indian earlier this year in February, came to us through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. Now, however, the entire new generation C Class range (C200 and C220 CDI) is assembled at the manufacturer’s Pune plant.The locally assembled Mercedes C220 CDI boasts of 60% localized level, which is the highest-ever on any German luxury car in India. Powering the 2015 C220 CDI is a 2,143 cc four-cylinder turbo-diesel motor that puts out a maximum power of 167.6 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Thanks to the local assembly, the 2015 Mercedes C Class Diesel price in India has been reduced to INR 37.9 lacs* for the Style trim level and to INR 39.9 lacs* for the ‘Avantgarde’ trim level. Compared to the CBU model, the price of the C220 CDI has reduced by around INR 2 lacs.
