Jaguar XE India launched at the Auto Expo
Jaguar Land Rover India has launched the highly anticipated XE sedan in India at the Auto Expo. This entry-level sedan made its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014. The sedan is powered by a set of petrol and diesel engines. Following its launch, the XE has become the cheapest Jaguar on sale in India and will compete with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3-Series and the Audi A4. The Jaguar XE comes to us via CKD route and will be assembled at the carmaker’s Pune facility. However, the XE is only available with a petrol engine as of now, which could be a result of the recent Delhi diesel ban. The Jaguar XE India launch took place at the Auto Expo 2016 and you can read on to find more Jaguar XE India launch details.
Jaguar XE India Price
The Jaguar XE starts at INR 39.9 lacs for the Pure trim, while the Portfolio trim is priced at INR 46.50 lacs.
Jaguar XE Design
The Jaguar XE looks familiar and new at the same time. The XE gets design elements from its bigger siblings at the front, especially the XF. The headlamp cluster design may be unique to the XE, but it looks similar to the one on the XF, the wide front grille is a Jaguar design staple. Move to the side and the profile is unique to XE, with a long bonnet, raked front windscreen, and a stubby boot. The tail-lamps have been influenced by the F-Type, but look a bit bloated. The rear is otherwise very good looking.
Jaguar XE Interior
The interior on the Jaguar XE is wholly different from the other sedans in the company’s range. The dashboard design is simple, the upper dashboard design is plain and the side A/C vents are placed a bit low. The steering wheel seems similar to the one found on the F-Type. The centre console is dominated by Jaguar’s new 8-inch InControl infotainment control screen, below which you will find the A/C controls.
The manual gear lever is stubby (available only with diesel motors) and looks nice. The lower centre console gets buttons for traction control settings among other. The XE gets an electronic parking brake.
The rear passengers will benefit from a fully functioning A/C unit which will keep the car cool even in the hottest day. The rear seats seem to be best suited for two people because of the A/C unit, but legroom will be no problem thanks to the 2,835-mm wheelbase, one the longest in the class.
Some more details about the car:
- The front suspension struts are based on the ones used on the F-Type, forged and cast aluminium has been used to keep the weight in check
- Integral link suspension at the rear is a first-in-the-segment
- Electronic power assist steering (EPAS)
- All Surface Progress Control system helps maintain good grip on various road surfaces
- 2.0 Litre petrol in two states of tune – 197 bhp and 237 bhp.
