Honda CR-V announced that the car will be getting a facelift back in October. Now, the ASEAN version has been revealed in Thailand and has made many quite happy with the new features. This version will be almost the same as the one that India will get in 2015.
Exterior Changes
With regard to exteriors the Honda CR-V ASEAN version is not very different from its European counterpart. It has the same revised bumpers “Solid Wing Face” grille and DRL equipped head lamps. The US version on the other hand differs in the bumper design, specially the bumper undergaurd design. There are also LED day time running lights which is a step up from the earlier model of Honda CR-V.

The rear being much like the American version has new chrome strip and a redesigned tailgate.
The ASEAN version has the larger wing mirrors like in the European one. But alloy wheels will be the same as the US version whereas the Euro model gets the V-spoke alloys which is still seen as a prototype.
Interior Changes
The Honda CR-V ASEAN is gifted with the left side view camera and three angle reverse camera. There is also the exceptional 7inch touch screen infotainment system with HDMI input and a lane watch.
Under The Hood
The 2.0 litre variation is powered on by a 155hp, 190Nm four cylinder engine and a five speed automatic. The 2.4 litre variant is connected to a CVT gearbox transmission instead of the usual five speed automatic transmission.
Both the engines carry the usual specifications in the ASEAN version even though the American model was gifted the direct injection technology with respect to the 2.4L engine.
The debut of the “ASEAN version” was quite interesting, specially for the Indian market as the same version will soon be coming to us in 2015. Expectations from this car are several as Honda CR-V has a sort of a special place in our market. The only SUV that runs on petrol in its range, the car has a commendable sale of 70 units per month.
The expected price should be around INR 20-25 Lakhs (ex showroom), the launch is to happen in 2015 in India for sure.
This facelift of the Honda CR-V certainly will make some more heads turn towards the company.
