The Rs 20-25 lakh SUV segment in the country is a hotly contested one, there will be a slew of launches in this segment in the coming months. Renault, the French car manufacturer has its soft-roader Koleos as an offering the same segment but the car has not been able to catch the fancy of the Indian consumers. However, the company believes that the car still has some steam left in it and has launched the 2014 Renault Koleos in India with a starting price of Rs 22.33 lakhs.
The information about all the variants and their prices have been updated by Renault on its official website. The 2014 Renault Koleos India prices are as follows:
- Renault Koleos 4×2 MT: Rs 22.33 lakhs
- Renault Koleos 4×4 MT: Rs 25.14 lakhs
- Renault Koleos 4×4 AT: Rs 26.19 lakhs

Earlier the crossover was available in only the top of the line 4×4 AT variant but the addition of two more variants comes across as a move to offer the customers a wider choice. All the three variants will have a 2.0 litre diesel motor as their heart and the car will be assembled at the company’s facility in Oragadam which it shares with Nissan.
The 4×2 MT gets the engine in a different state of tune as compared to the remaining two. The 2.0 litre motor in the 2-wheel drive variant will have a maximum power figure of 148 BHP with peak torque being 320 NM. This will be mated to a 6 speed manual transmission and will deliver a fuel efficiency of 17.65 KMPL as per ARAI.
The remaining two variants will get the engine in a different state of tune. It will develop a maximum power of 171 BHP and a peak torque of 360 NM. The automatic transmission will be a 6 speed automatic unit. The 4×4 MT will deliver a fuel efficiency of 16.26 KMPL while the 4×4 AT will deliver a fuel efficiency of 14.56 KMPL as per ARAI.
The facelift comes with a heavy amount of chrome. You get chrome grille, chrome on side mouldings and a bigger Renault logo. The 4×2 MT variant gets single tone 17-inch alloys while the 4×4 variants get two tone 17-inch alloys. An all new paint scheme, ‘Ebony Brown’ has been introduced as well. You get a R-Link infotainment system with voice controls and has a 7 inch touchscreen. The top end 4×4 AT variant gets the much famed BOSE audio system.
The 2014 Renault Koleos facelift brings a reverse camera, hands-free card, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control and Blind Spot Warning function as additional features. The car will be up against the soon to be launch facelifted Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ssangyong Rexton.
