Nissan is now gearing up to launch the current generation X-Trail in India. The new model Nissan X-Trail India launch will take place by the end of 2017. As we just said, the new model Nissan X-Trail India launch will take place by the end of 2017. Nissan had plans to launch the X-Trail earlier, but there were delays for various reasons. Pricing and high demand for diesel-powered SUVs are to be blamed. At the launch of the Terrano facelift, Nissan stated that the manufacturer will be launching 8 new models by 2021.

The new model Nissan X-Trail is the third generation of the SUV, and is an all-new vehicle. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 30-35 lakhs. The new X-Trail could come to us via the CBU route. Which means it will be able to avail tax benefits under the FAME scheme. However, it will attract significantly lower VAT in New Delhi.

The 2014 X-Trail gets a major revamp in its third generation guise and one of the key issues of not having a third row of seats has now been taken care of. The India bound X-Trail will come to us only in its hybrid avatar which comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine that will work in conjunction with an electric motor. This combo has a combined power output of 179 bhp. The engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.

Internationally, the new X-Trail gets Active Ride Control which scans the road that lies ahead and adjusts the suspension of the car accordingly and this will surely help the off-road trips. It will not be available with a 4-wheel drive system and will get a 7-inch touchscreen Nissan Connect Infotainment system on the inside. It will lock horns with the likes of Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Hyundai Santa Fe.
