The Compact SUV’s ruled the roost in terms of keeping the buzz going with numerous manufacturer’s going head to head, each trying to outdo the other. Now it seems that ‘Buzz’ has shifted to the bigger segment of Multi-Purpose Vehicles. The next-gen Toyota Innova has been caught testing, Honda Mobilio will be launched shortly, Ertiga from Maruti Suzuki is being sold at a discount while Renault is prepping the Lodgy for a launch soon. Not to be left behind Nissan has unveiled the Nissan Evalia facelift to keep up with the pack.
Released back in 2012, the Eavlia was among the first to enter the MPV/MUV segment here in India. Inspite of being of of the pioneers of its segment the Evalia struggled to break free from being perceived as a commercial vehicle and has led a fairly dormant existence since. The 2014 Nissan Evalia is an attempt to attract eyeballs before the MPV scene explodes around late 2015. The changes in the vehicle are minimal while conscious efforts have been put in to break free from the commercial tag that the Evalia carries. So lets have a look at what does the 2014 Nissan Evalia Facelift has in store for us.

What’s New ?
The new model receives a few styling upgrades and improved interiors. Cosmetic changes on the 2014 Nissan Evalia include a bold new face with a chunky chrome grille and brand new bumper. There is a re-styled rear bumper too, new chrome highlights the bootlid and smart 10-spoke alloy wheels. On the inside, the upgrades include use of some new fabrics and materials and higher trims get faux-wood accents around the center console. After customer feedback, Nissan has now included a much needed lid for the glovebox.
There are no mechanical changes to the car and it continues to be offered with the 1.5-liter four-cylinder K9k engine making 85 bhp and 200 Nm of torque and a 5-speed manual gearbox. The ARAI rated efficiency stands at 19.3 km/l.
The base version 2014 Nissan Evalia XE comes with ABS, EBD and BA safety features. It also gets a basic multi-functional display, central locking, immobilizer, 60:40 split foldable second row and 50:50 split foldable third row seats.
Top-end variants of the Evalia get dual front airbags, alloy wheels, rear wiper and washer, 2-DIN music system, reverse camera, rear AC alongwith additional features like wooden finish centre console, the new chrome grille and chrome strip on the bootlid and the option of second row captains chairs.
