Having tasted the initial success with its litre-class bikes in India a few months ago, Japanese bike manufacturer Kawasaki is betting again on the blooming Indian market. The news is now official that the company is all set to roll out the all new 2014 Kawasaki Z1000, a naked superbike in India . The new generation bike was first unveiled recently during the EICMA 2013 show. Since then, it has done well in many markets.
While the official booking in India is expected to start sometime in December 2013, pre-order booking is in full swing. For the time being, it will be available through company’s only flagship store in Pune from where other bestial Kawasaki sportsbikes like the Ninja ZX-10R and the hypertourer, the Ninja ZX-14R are sold.
Features and machine-wise, the Z1000 bike is the perfect testimony to a ‘gentle giant’. A 1043cc inline four cylinder engine is central to its performance. This can generate 140 BHP of maximum power and 110 Nm of maximum torque engine. This is different in many ways as compared to the previous generation engine.
The newly designed engine boasts of a new intake cam setup which can. To reduce the pumping loss and to boost efficiency, a better airbox has been used. Shorter final gearing and a taller sixth gear are the changes in the transmission. Now you can carry about 17 litre fuel in newly designed tank as compared to the 15.5 litre tank in the last generation bike. However, this makes the bike heavier by about 3kg.
Counting the additional features, the 2014 model Z1000 runs with ABS as standard while it was something you could choose on the previous generation. The company has given no details about the price yet we believe that the on-road price of the Z1000 should be about Rs 12.5 lakh. With its features, specifications and price, it will be well equipped to compete with the likes of Yamaha’s FZ1 (Rs 8.70 lakh) and Honda’s CB1000R (Rs 10.20 lakh).
