Hyundai Verna was one of the first cars that went under the overhaul when the fluidic design philosophy started making its way on to the cars. Needless to say, the car got a pretty warm reception and it went to become the bestseller in its segment. The car, even though looks like a one generations ahead is readying itself up for a minor facelift to keep the buzz going. This will be a mid-life refresh before the next generation of Verna, the 2014 Hyundai Verna Fluidic new model.
The facelifted version of the car has been caught on candid camera in China and seeing the fact that the car is quite a popular one in India too, we expect the same to come to us as well when it launches globally. The rear of the car will be largely unchanged with only the bumper reflectors getting altered. The rest of it will be the same and it is the front where we will see the changes.
It will get a pretty comprehensive overhaul upfront with the headlamps, grille and bumper getting altered. The car will look way more aggressive than it already does and might just get LEDs as well. The grille will remind you of the Hyundai Mistra and it looks like that it will get projector headlamps too. The Verna looks a bit different in China than it does in India so you can expect the Indian facelifted version to look slightly different from the one in pictures.
The Hyundai Verna has been clocking sales north of 4,000 units a month since its launch and averaged about 4,300 units in a month in 2013 which is pretty good for a C-Segment sedan. But with the competition ushering in its next generation cars (read as Honda City and Maruti Suzuki SX4) and the mid-life facelifted versions coming soon(read as Fiesta and Linea), the Verna will need a lot more than the extensive facelift and the fluidic design philosophy to dominate the sales charts in all its glory.
