There is a ray of hope that Hyundai may be actually thinking of launching the Hyundai Grand i10 Diesel automatic in India. A TeamBHP.com member read through his Grand i10’s owners manual and found a section dedicated to the Grand i10 diesel automatic varaint, which would not have been mentioned if the company wasn’t seriously considering launching the car in India. Hyundai has been continuously keeping mum on this issue and no test mules of the car have been spotted till date, which makes us wonder whether Hyundai had considered the car before the launch and then decided not to go ahead with it’s production for some unknown reason. There could also be the chance that it is waiting and watching for the optimum moment to launch the car in India. What ever is the case, we will keep you posted about the Hyundai Grand i10 diesel, keep tuned in to Car Blog India.

The speculation that Hyundai may launch the Grand i10 diesel with an automatic gearbox has not died still. Hyundai launched the petrol automatic variant of the car last week (read update below) but has remained muted about the diesel variant getting the same. This silence from Hyundai is fueling rumours that the company will be launching the automatic on the diesel variant soon, with fly-wheel.com claiming that the car will be launched on 5th December 2013.
Will the Hyundai Grand i10 diesel automatic be launched in December? We will have to wait and watch, keep tuned in to Car Blog India for the latest on this story.

Hyundai has launched a four-speed automatic-transmission equipped variant of the the Hyundai Grand i10 petrol in India. We were also expecting the company to introduce the auto-tranny in the diesel variant, but the company has not shown any intent to do so as of now, presumable because the price increase would make the car lose its value-for-money tag. The automatic transmission is available on two trim levels of the Grand i10, the top end Asta and the Sportz, though no other feature apart from the transmission have been added to the car.
Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)
- Hyundai Grand i10 Asta AT (petrol) is priced at Rs. 5.92 Lakh
- Hyundai Grand i10 Sportz AT (petrol) is priced at Rs. 5.64 Lakh
Hyundai is expected to launch the same automatic-transmission unit with the 1.1-litre diesel motor too. When? We do not know. Hyundai may look at the sales numbers of the petrol automatic to gauge interest before it introduces the same with the diesel engine.
Updated on 29th October 2013
BS Motoring has reportedly learnt from its sources that Hyundai is planning to launch an automatic-transmission equipped variant of the Hyundai Grand i10 diesel.
The Hyundai Grand i10 was launched in September 2013, a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.1-litre diesel engine was on offer. Both engines were only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. The overwhelming response (read previous update below) and customer feedback has made Hyundai think of offering the Grand i10 with a 4-speed automatic transmission too.
The engine on the Hyundai Grand i10 is more suited for city driving and the addition of an auto-box is going to complement that characteristic nicely. Hyundai is expected to launch the new feature by end November 2013 or early December 2013.

The Hyundai Grand i10 will be launched in India on 3rd September 2013. Hyundai has been tight lipped about what features the Grand i10 will get, even asking publications to take down spy shots of its interior.
Anyway, what features do you think Hyundai should incorporate in the Grand i10 to make it as appealing as the i10? Will it cannibalise the sales of the i10 or the i20? Do let us know in the comments.
We will of course be bringing you updates from the launch event, keep tuned in to Car Blog India.

Autocar India has been able to test drive the new Hyundai i10/Brilliant, which has been named the Hyundai Grand i10. The car will slot in between the current i10 and the the i20, yep you read that right – it it will not replace the i10 available now in India, as will be the case in other markets.
The Hyundai Grand i10 will be revealed for the Indian market in September 2013, but there are some images available of the car already, check them out below:
It is larger than the current i10 in every way (length, width, height) the most important factor being a 100+ mm increase in wheelbase. Exterior styling is a bit toned down, tough it still follows Hyundai’s ‘fluidic’ design philosophy. The front is dominated by smart headlamps, a hexagonal lower grille and fog-lamp integrated bumpers, the side profile is a bit bland but the stylish alloy wheels come to the rescue, come to the rear and you would appreciate the wraparound tail-lamps (reminiscent of the i20?), the rear bumper looks good too and gets integrated dual-fog lamps (like the facelift Zen!).
The Hyundai Grand i10 will get a lot of segment first features like cooled glove box, auto-folding mirrors, rear-parking sensors, a 2-DIN audio system with 1 GB of internal memory and a rear A/C vent. The thing that will interest most buyers will be the 1.1-litre diesel engine, which will the smallest diesel engine available in a car in India when launched, trumping the 1.2 litre unit on the Chevrolet Beat. The 3-cylinder motor will deliver around 70 BHP of power, torque figures have not been revealed. It will also be offered with a differently tuned version of the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol motor.
Hyundai will have to price the Grand i10 very carefully so as to not cannibalise the sales of the i10 and the i20, it is expected that the car will be priced starting at about Rs. 4 lakh. It will be launched in Septmeber 2013.

2014 Hyundai i10 / Brilliant Variants Detail Leaked
Hyundai has been extensively testing the next generation i10 or Hyundai Brilliant. Now the car is going to be volume puller for Hyundai and it can be found testing in the outskirts of Chennai these days. The car is due for a launch around Diwali/ Dusshera and the variant list of the car seems to have emerged on to the interweb. The car will be made in as extensive as 18 variants at the Hyundai facility in Chennai for exports as well as domestic sales.
There will be a total of 18 variants of the car which will be manufactured. Out of these 18, 8 will be Left Hand Drive models meant exclusively for exports whereas 10 of them will be Right Hand Drive Models which will be aimed at exports as well as domestic sales in India. It is the RHDs which will be making their way to us so let’s stick to the variant list of those models as these ones will be up for sale in the Indian market.
- The base model of the car (most likely to be called Era) will be available with manual and automatic transmissions for the 1.2 litre Kappa engine. There will be a 1.2 litre Kappa engine combined with LPG mated to a manual transmission and there will be the 1.1 litre diesel motor mated to manual transmission as well.
- The next model (maybe called Magna) will have ABS and will be available in 1.2 litre Kappa engine mated to an automatic as well as manual transmission and the 1.1 litre diesel motor will be available as well mated to a manual transmission.
- The next trim (Sportz) level will offer Electronic Stability control in addition to previous features but will be available in only 1.2 litre Kappa engine option mated to manual and automatic transmission.
- The top of the line variant (Sportz O or Asta) will offer Idle Stop and Go system (micro-hybrid system) and will be available only in 1.2 litre Kappa engined car.
There you go, the complete list of features and the car will see a launch later this year. Hyundai is surely turning up the heat this time around.

2014 Hyundai i10/ Brilliant Caught Testing In India
The next generation Hyundai i10 or the Hyundai Brilliant as some reports have suggested is being tested in the country and today we have for you the spyshots of the car courtesy our friends back at Team BHP. It is believed that Hyundai has pre-poned the plans of producing the car by three months and will instead start the car’s production in September 2013 instead of December 2013. After the start of the production, we can expect the global launch soon after it.
The next gen i10 has been caught testing in India around Chennai. The car has been spotted on NH4, 50 kilometers away from Chennai, where Hyundai has their production facility. The i10 is produced at Chennai facility for export as well as Indian sales figures. The i10 in its next generation will reach India around the festival season of Diwali-Dusshera which is considered to be the most auspicious time in the country to buy a car.
The Hyundai Brilliant/i10 will start the diesel onslaught of the company in India in the B segment hatchbacks. The car will come with a 1.1 litre diesel engine in addition to the 1.1 litre petrol motor and the 1.2 litre petrol motor that are currently present on the i10. But they will also get slightly tweaked to deliver more fuel efficiency. The car will increase in size as well and will have an increase in the width and length
.
The car will get a refresh on the inside as well and will get the height adjustable front seats as well. The passengers in the car will get more leg room and head room. The car is also expected to get better crash ratings than the current generation. The car is one of the best sellers in the company portfolio and got the fluidic treatment as a mid life facelift. The major overhaul which would come in later this year and is expected to become a better seller than it already is.

Hyundai i10 has been the car that has been doing great numbers for the Korean car maker and the car just got itself a special edition in the form of an i10 iTech variant. The cars sales have been pretty much phenomenal to say the least but they could be all the more better if it came with a diesel heart. And Hyundai is looking to correct all the mistakes in the next generation of i10 which will be 2014 Hyundai i10 aka Hyundai Brilliant. But first things first and the next-gen i10 may not be named i10.
Hyundai Brilliant will be the name that the next gen i10 might have and the current gen i10 will co-exist with it. The Hyundai Brilliant will be slotted between the i10 and the i20. From the pictures of the next gen i10 that have reached the interweb, what can be made out is that the car will come with acres of interior space and host of features which would be complemented pretty well by the fluidic design philosophy which will heavily influence the design.
The next gen Hyundai Brilliant or 2014 i10 will also come with a a three cylinder diesel version of the i20’s diesel motor which will be downsized to 1.1 litre displacement for the i10. This would help Hyundai save huge R&D costs and at the same time will help Hyundai make the car all the more fuel efficient. It is expected to churn out 68 horses with the torque figure of 160 NM helping it become quite the frugal car. With an expected fuel efficiency of 23-25 KMPL, the car will be a fuel sipper to say the least.
The petrol motors will be same as found on the current i10. And now let us talk about the pricing part of it. We expect the base model of the Hyundai Brilliant to retail for around Rs.4.2 lakhs because that would slot it exactly between the base models of i10 and i20 in petrol motors. It will be upping the ante when it gets launched and the Brilliant would surely make you think if buying a Figo or a Beat instead is a brilliant choice. My vote goes to Brilliant. And yours?
