Land Rover has launched their all new 2012 Range Rover new model in India in New Delhi on 30th November 2012. The new Range Rover is an advanced and rugged SUV which can face the toughest of terrains at ease. It is considerably loaded and advanced compared to the previous generations of Range Rover with an all-aluminum light weight monocoque construction. The use of Aluminum over steel saved a significant weight of 420 Kg which reduces the fuel consumption as well as the emissions.
It features all the goodness of the Land Rover’s Terrain Response system version 2 with excellent dynamics and ability to take on various kind of terrains. On the outside, it’s a masculine and rugged machine with oodles of luxury on the offer on the inside of this SUV. The premium SUV has been priced quite premium as well as it will set you back by Rs. 1.72 Crore ex-showroom Delhi.
At the heart of new 2013 Range Rover is a choice between two power plants which are – a 5 litre 510 BHP V8 supercharged petrol engine or a 4.4 Litre 340 BHP SDV8 Diesel engine. The engines are mated with an advanced 8 speed automatic transmission system which further connects to the full-time all wheel drive of the Rover with a two speed transfer box. At all the times, a traction control system or TCS keep a check on the drivetrain and keep the rover in traction. With its muscular specs, this beauty can sprint from 0 to 100 KMPH in just 5.4 seconds for the V8 engine model.
It can wade up to 900mm in depth which is considerable and can pull a 3500 Kg trailer. The seating position and overall height of the new Range Rover is also quite high compared to other premium SUVs which gives it a very commanding presence on the roads. The comfort and feature list is also very extensive with premium leather interiors, high end audio system, touch screen infotainment systems, connectivity with mobile devices, four-zone climate control to name a few.
