Linea T-Jet has been the car that is indeed one of the most fun cars to drive around in the sub-Rs.10 lakh bracket. But the car has not found a lot of takers because of the fact that Fiat’s aspirational value in the country is not as high as Honda or Hyundai and coupled with fact that petrol prices are soaring by the day, the petrol car has not been able to take a flight. But the petrol heads, still drool over the turbo petrol motor of the 2013 Fiat Linea T-Jet.
Fiat India has just confirmed the fact that the company is planning to re-launch the great car with a refresh so as to keep pace with the times. The latest model will be a 2013 model and Marius D’Lima, Head, Corporate Communications Fiat Group Automobiles India has stated to our friends back at IndianAutosBlog that, “The new T-Jet launch is a model year change. It will be differently packaged and there will be no body changes. It will be available from the 1st of April.”
Fiat had announced last year in December that the company will be bringing their performance division, Abarth to India and the iconic American car brand, Jeep will also see the light of the day in the country courtesy Fiat. Along with these plans, the company had announced that thy will be reposition the Linea as the Linea Classic in the year 2013. We expect that the Abarth treatment will also hit the Linea and we can see a Linea Abarth as a top of the line model as well.
Fiat Linea T-Jet has a 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol motor under the head which churns out some real driving fun because of the 113 horses under the hood and a maximum torque of 211 NM. The Linea T-Jet sits as a top of the line variant which competes with the top end diesel motor and as a result, the sales dwindle. 2013 is quite crucial for the company as far as their India prospects are concerned and we believe they will leave no stone unturned when it would come to providing the consumers with some real good products.
