TVS Motors has updated the TVS Apache RTR 160. This measure has been taken for attracting customers in the upcoming festive season. As usual the update is limited to the cosmetics, especially to the paint options.
Five new paint options are on offer on the TVS Apache RTR 160 only, no changes have been announced for the Apache RTR 180 or the Apache RTR 180 ABS. These will be single colour paints and will be offered along with the existing dual-tone paint options.
The paint options include:
- White
- Black
- Red
- Yellow
- Titanium Grey
The paints will be complemented by graphics and faux-carbon fibre painted panels.
Price
The price of the TVS Apache RTR 160 has not been revised, it costs Rs. 69,795, ex-showroom Delhi
No mechanical changes have been made to the bike:
- Engine: Single-cylinder, 160 cc, 15.2 BHP @ 8500 rpm / 13.1 Nm @ 4000 rpm
- 5-speed transmission
- 17-inch alloy wheels front and rear, 90 mm section tyres at the front and 110 mm section tyres at the rear
- Front forks with 105 mm of travel, mono-suspension at the rear
- Brakes: 270 mm petal disc at front, 200 mm petal disc / 130 mm drum at the rear

TVS India has launched the 2012 TVS Apache RTR Series of sporty motorcycles in India with two different engine options and 3 variants in all. These are 2012 TVS Apache RTR 160, 2012 TVS Apache RTR 180 and 2012 Apache RTR 180 with ABS. Apache RTR series was the first Indian Motorcycle to get an ABS system for safe braking even on wet and bad surfaces. The new 2012 TVS Apache RTR series gets a cosmetic upgrade and now looks more muscular and sporty. The 2012 TVS Apache RTR series has been priced between Rs. 67,505 and Rs. 82,780 ex-showroom Delhi. The entry level 2012 Apache RTR 160 is priced at Rs. 67,505 which comes with 15 PS of power and has a top speed of 118 KMPH. The more powerful 2012 TVS Apache RTR 180 is priced at Rs. 72,090 and is powered by a more powerful engine producing 17 PS of power and has a top speed of 124 KMPH. To get ABS features for safety, the Apache RTR 180 with ABS will cost about Rs. 10,000 more compared to the standard model and will cost you Rs. 82,780 ex-showroom Delhi.

2012 Apache RTR series comes with lot of black treatment all over, dynamic and sporty styling, bikini like faring around the fuel tank, sporty visor and two attractive pilot lamps (city lights) powered by LED gives it an aggressive animalistic look which TVS calls the “eye of fury”.

The shoulder styling is not just a cosmetic element but also helps improve on aerodynamics and channelizing the air flow for better cooling of the engine which improves the responsiveness of the engine. The new Digital console is more sculpted which goes really well with the new sharp and sleek styling of the 2012 TVS Apache RTR series.

Seats of the new 2012 Apache RTR are more aggressively angled which go well with the new engine cowl design for racy and sporty spirit design to it. The 2012 Apache RTR has best-in-class power to weight ratio. The 2012 RTR 160 comes in four dual tone colour options including Green-Black, Yellow-Black, Red-Black and Grey-Black.
The 2012 TVS Apache RTR 180 comes also comes in 4 colour options which includes White, Yellow, Grey and Black, the 2012 Apache RTR 180 with ABS comes with White and black.
