We have seen BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi products running on the city roads for quite some time now and no doubt they are popular. But there are a few other brands which in spite of belonging to the same segment are class apart. In specific we are talking about Jaguar which is currently owned by Tata and is one of those brands who redefine elegance and luxury.
For months Tata has been working out ways to start localization of Jaguar and Land Rover products and recently Land Rover Freelander 2 turned out to be the very first locally assembled product from Tata. Mr. Ratan Tata has been reassuring the masses that very soon Jaguar and Land Rover models will be assembled locally, bringing down their costs by a few lakhs.
Beside these important plans that Tata is all geared up for, another car is expected to be launched soon and the most interesting part about this news is that it is expected to be priced below Rs. 38 Lakh. Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel is the new baby to join the Indian portfolio and as per speculations, it will be priced in the band of Rs. 35 to Rs. 38 Lakh making it as alluring as any other Mercedes Benz or BMW product.
The 2.2 Liter diesel engine that is supposed to come with the Jaguar is already being assembled in India for Freelander 2 and if Tata somehow does bring the same engine with the XF, then buyers who were earlier only opting for other popular products ,will definitely consider XF as well.
The 2.2 Liter engine is 4 cylinder CRDI diesel one and can produce maximum power of 190 BHP and peak torque of 450 Nm. It is coupled with a 8 speed automatic transmission and together they achieve a very impressive mileage of 19 KMPL.
We expect the car to be showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo and be launched later the same year.
