Kia has been able to sell an impressive 1.5 lakh Carens cars in the last 27 months. This comes out to be a cool 185 cars per day. Carens is a family mover which has tasted considerable success in our market despite being a unique product. Interestingly, it is the flagship model from Kia in India (apart from the EV6 electric crossover). The Carens was launched back in February 2022. It offers the latest tech, connectivity, convenience and safety features to pamper the customers. That is what attracts new buyers. Let us take a look at the details here.
185 Kia Carens Cars Sold Per Hour
Out of the 1.5 lakh vehicles, 50% of buyers opted for mid and top variants. That is understandable since these trims offer attractive and popular features like electric sunroof, multi-drive modes, ventilated seats and Kia Connect amenities. Also, note that the Kia Carens attracts a wide range of buyers as it offers petrol, as well as diesel trims. Out of the total sales, 57% of customers opted for petrol, while 43% of buyers went for the diesel option. What I find quite intriguing is the fact that 62% of customers chose the manual transmission. Remember, in April 2024, the Korean automaker re-launched the 6-seat variant of the Carens to expand its reach.

It now accounts for approximately 15% of our monthly domestic sales, and we are confident that its popularity will only grow in the coming years. Our View
It fascinates me to know that despite being the flagship model in Kia’s India lineup, the Carens has been able to sell this well. Customers are certainly finding it attractive due to the road presence, features and powertrain options. In one of the recent surveys, it was also found that the Seltos and Carens offer low maintenance costs in comparison to the rivals. That could be critical for a whole bunch of buyers. Finally, Kia now offers the Carens in 30 trims. It ensures that the needs of all sorts of potential buyers are met. Let us see how well this demand continues for the Carens going forward.
