In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old drunk owner of the Porsche Taycan was caught overspeeding and getting involved in a fatal accident in Pune. Vedant Agarwal, 17, is the son of a prominent builder, Vishal Agarwal. We keep coming across such terrible incidents relatively frequently. It represents the dangerous conditions of our roads. For now, let us get into the details of this horrendous crash leading to the demise of two unsuspecting bikers.
Porsche Owner Hits Two Bikers
The details of this crash come from this post from adultsociety on Instagram. As per the information, Vedant Agarwal was driving his Porsche Taycan at high speed around 3:15 AM when he hit Anish Awadhiya (24) and Ashwini Koshta (24). The latter two were on a bike. They both were IT engineers from Madhya Pradesh. This crash took place at Kalyani Nagar junction. The impact was so severe that it sent the two bikers into the air, landing them on another car, and killing them instantly. In fact, the luxury sportscar came to a halt only after colliding with a pavement nearby. The locals caught the driver and beat him up before handing him over to the Police.
A case was registered against the drivers under multiple sections at the Yerawada Police Station. These include 279 (rash driving), 304A (death by negligence), 337 (endangering human life) and 338 (causing grievous hurt), and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The investigation also concluded that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The Police Commissioner said, “The father of the accused and the bar which served liquor to the juvenile/accused are being proceeded against under Sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act.” We hope that appropriate action is taken against the accused.
Our View
I have been reporting innumerable crashes involving minor drivers and drivers under the influence of alcohol for a long time now. Drunk driving and overspeeding continue to be among the biggest reasons for road accidents in our country. It is high time we start taking the traffic regulations seriously. We lose lakhs of lives each year in such incidents. I would like to advise our readers to ensure that you adhere to the traffic protocols and encourage everyone around you to do the same. Let us pledge to be responsible road users.
