Maruti Ertiga Automatic Launched In Indonesia
Maruti Suzuki has struck the right chord in the C segment with the launch of the Ertiga and the car has been doing pretty well in every market that it’s been selling in. Indonesia, a market which has special affinity for MPVs has just got itself the Ertiga in the automatic guise. The car is available there in automatic guise in the om road pricing range of Rs.9.6 lakhs and Rs.10.26 lakhs which is slightly higher than the price we expect it to retail in India.
The Ertiga in the Indonesian market comes in petrol guise only and gets the 1.4 litre petrol motor in the Indian spec Ertiga mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission. The 1.4 litre petrol motor develops 95PS@6,000RPM and the peak torque of 130Nm comes in at 4,000RPM, making the car a very capable city car. The engines comes with VVT technology which is the Variable Valve Timing technology, giving the car a peppy drive.
The Ertiga in Indonesia is manufactured through the CKD kits exported from India so launching the automatic Ertiga would not be much of an issue in India. The car has comes in 3 variants in India which are the LXi, VXi and ZXi. The Ertiga in automatic guise is expected to be launched in the VXi and ZXi trims in India as the companies are looking to launch mid variants in automatic guises rather than just the top end models.
Mazda VX-1 is the rebadged version of the Ertiga in Indonesia which is also expected to get the automatic transmission. Suzuki Ertiga has been one of the best sellers in the MPV segment in India and has taken the competition to the leader of the segment, the Toyota Innova in a big manner. The automatic guise will give the car an edge over the Innova and to an extent, over similarly priced C-Segment sedans.

Suzuki Ertiga Automatic Approved In Indonesia
Suzuki Ertiga registered a huge success in positioning itself as a family vehicle. The compact crossover MPV was not only appreciated in India but acquired a huge fan following in Indonesia as well.
And now, this family car is already to win hearts and accolades in Thailand. As per a report published by Autonetmagz.com, Thailand will be importing Ertiga from Indonesia. The site also reported that a new vehicle codenamed AV1414F TYPE SDX AT has been booked by PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales. The registration has been confirmed by Indonesian Ministry of industry. It can be clearly inferred by the codename that an automatic version of Ertiga is getting ready to hit roads in Thailand.
According to the website, this crossover has also been equipped with a 4-speed transmission as was earlier noticed in Dzire and Ritz in India. Eritga also shares its core physics with the Swift and Dzire, therefore it is certain that this task will not utilize much of Maruti’s resources and time.
The AT version of Ertiga will be fighting for space with Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia who are very well settled players in the field there. The CKD packages for the Indonesian Ertiga are being shipped from India by Maruti Suzuki. And from what can be considered from the present scenario is that, at present, Maruti is considering only petrol version of Ertiga.

Suzuki To Launch Ertiga Automatic In Indonesia
Maruti Ertiga is ruling the sales chart since the day it was launched in the Indian automobile market. The car is a perfect package for a budget MPV buyer and offers fuel efficiency, space, features and quality at the same time. Talking about overseas markets, especially Indonesia where MPVs are welcomed wholeheartedly, this new vehicle from Maruti Suzuki is gaining a lot of popularity and sales are going great.
In fact Suzuki dealers there are requesting for bigger allocations which the company cannot offer as the demand is higher in our market. Now the interesting piece of information surrounding the car is that Suzuki has promised an automatic transmission variant of the Ertiga for the Indonesian market. Okezone.com has reported that Indomobil Suzuki has promised the Indonesian media that it is considering to launch Ertiga automatic soon.
Going by the fact that Ertiga is exported to Indonesia from India, we can speculate of Maruti Ertiga Automatic being developed at the company’s facility, Presently the car maker offers the 1.2 litre Dzire petrol with a four speed auto gearbox.
The news has been confirmed by Endro Nugroho, Marketing Director of PT Indomobil Suzuki Sales. He stated that the development is underway and is going at an appreciable pace. No obstacles have been faced so far and the automatic Ertiga is likely to be on display at the 2012 Indonesian Motor Show in September. The actual launch will take place in early 2013.
For Indonesian markets, it maybe a diesel automatic Ertiga which will be targeted at a segment which unfortunately is non-existent in India. But since the company is working on such a model for the Indonesian market, we surely are hoping it will launch the model in India as well, at a later point in time.
The trends of Automatics is gradually picking up in India as well and most Indian car makers are launching their new cars with automatic options on both mid and top variants. So if Maruti plans to introduce the automatic variant of Ertiga in India also, then it will be most likely the Maruti Ertiga Automatic Petrol VXi with a price tag of close to Rs. 7.6 Lakhs which is approximately Rs. 1 Lakh more expansive than the corresponding manual variant as we have seen with the Dzire pricing. We will keep an eye on the developments and will keep you posted, stay tuned to Car Blog India for more updates.
